Research Thrusts

One programme. Three Connected Capabilities

The three thrusts form a connected chain: Thrust 1 develops trusted and verifiable hardware foundations; Thrust 2 creates assurance methods to evaluate quantum-safe systems in practice; Thrust 3 translates these foundations into migration models, crypto-agility concepts and future-network validation environments.

Thrust 1 — Hardware

Open and verifiable quantum-safe hardware

Build trusted roots for secure devices and systems.

We develop an open and verifiable RISC-V processor platform as a future trust anchor for security-critical devices, combining post-quantum cryptographic accelerators, side-channel-resistant hardware, secure key storage, and a hardened operating system.

Quantum communication security assurance

Turn security claims into evaluation evidence.

This thrust develops methods, tools and capabilities that make QKD and hybrid QKD/PQC implementations testable from the outset, connecting security proofs, protocol assumptions, component behaviour and certification needs with practical evaluation.

Thrust 3 — Migration

Quantum-safe migration and crypto-agility

Move complex infrastructures toward quantum-safe operation.

Migration models, cryptographic agility concepts and validation testbeds help complex infrastructures transition toward post-quantum security, including hybrid PQC/QKD scenarios in emerging B5G/6G and 3D network environments.
