NRF CREATE RESEARCH PROGRAMME ON

QUANTUM SECURITY AND RESILIENCE FOR EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES

QUASAR-CREATE prepares critical technologies for the quantum age.

As quantum computing and quantum communication mature, today's digital infrastructures face a new class of security challenges. QUASAR-CREATE brings together Fraunhofer, TUM, NTU and NUS to develop practical, testable and deployable solutions for quantum-safe security - from open hardware to QKD evaluation, post-quantum migration and future-ready quantum-safe application integrations.

RESEARCH THRUSTS

Thrust 1: Open and Verifiable Quantum Safe Hardware

THRUST 1: HARDWARE

OPEN AND VERIFIABLE QUANTUM SAFE HARDWARE

Open Design Chips. Verifiable Trust. Quantum-Safe by Design - We develop an open and verifiable RISC-V processor platform as a future trust anchor for security-critical devices. By combining post-quantum cryptographic accelerators, side-channel-resistant hardware, secure key storage, and a hardened operating system, this thrust lays the foundation for transparent, quantum-safe hardware systems.

Thrust 2: Quantum Safe Communication Assurance

THRUST 2: ASSURANCE

QUANTUM SAFE COMMUNICATION ASSURANCE

Testing the Security and Trust Behind Quantum Communication and QKD - Quantum communication can only become critical infrastructure if its security can be tested, evaluated, and certified in practice. This thrust develops vendor-neutral methods, tools, and laboratory capabilities for QKD and quantum communication security — bridging theoretical security proofs, real-world component imperfections, attack analysis, countermeasures, and future certification pathways.

Thrust 3: Quantum Safe Migration and Agility

THRUST 3: MIGRATION

QUANTUM SAFE MIGRATION AND AGILITY

From Today's Infrastructure to Tomorrow's Quantum-Safe Systems - Migrating to post-quantum security is more than replacing algorithms. This thrust creates practical blueprints, migration models, digital testing environments, and cryptographic agility concepts to help complex infrastructures move toward quantum-safe operation. It also explores hybrid PQC/QKD solutions for emerging 5G/6G systems and supports skills training for the next generation of quantum security experts.
